Police are awaiting a green signal from the Madhya Pradesh state government to submit a chargesheet against ‘Bigg Boss 17’ winner Munawar Faruqui.
The stand-up comedian got arrested in 2021 for making some insensitive remarks about Lord Ram during a stand-up comedy performance in Indore. Although he was sent behind bars, he got bail a month later. A case was registered against him and four other members of his troupe under section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
The FIR was filed by Eklavya Singh Gaur, the son of a local BJP MLA Malini Laxman Singh Gaur.
According to the same report, an official from the senior prosecution department stated that the delay is due to the Madhya Pradesh state government’s pending permission approval, after which the chargesheet against Bigg Boss 17’s Munawar Faruqui will be filed in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) mandate.
Munawar Faruqui was recently spotted addressing a gathering in Dongri after winning Bigg Boss 17. His followers had gathered to congratulate him on his success. Even that occasion sparked controversy when an FIR was filed against him for unlawfully utilizing a drone to shoot his visuals in Dongri.
